What does money mean to you?

Money.

What a word. The mere mention of that word evokes all sorts of different emotions among us.

I believe the 2 most common emotions evoked are greed and fear. We all know most people will never stop wanting money.

Fear that comes with money, however, is a bane to our lives. Have you ever felt your heart sink whenever you started imagining a situation where you've lost all your money? Or have you been paralyzed into not taking action because of fear of losing money? Unfortunately a lot of us feel that we would die if we lost all our money.

Until we start realising that money is just a word, we will never be free from its bonds of fear. In fact, the whole concept of money itself comes from the idea of 'something valuable' that people can trade with. Back in the hunting and fruit-picking days, people bartered an animal for some fruit. Did the cavemen fear about not having an animal with them? Of course not, they just needed to go out to hunt for another one. It's not the money, or the animal that's valuable. It's the SKILL of being able to hunt the animal.

So what if we lose all our belongings? If you've been doing your part in being a life learner, then you're bound to have the skills to earn back the things you lost. Unless of course, you've just been living like a parasite, not wanting to learn or grow, depending just on handouts. Then you'd better be afraid. VERY afraid.
